For the past several weeks I’ve been doing a human power two-wheeler. Yup, cycling. On road, off-road, cross-country (or the folks from bike enthusiast called them ‘XC’), a bit of fun bike with the friends around the city, etc.
And just like its motorized big brother the experience of riding them simply is FUN!
Like its motorized big brother, there are many types of bicycle. But mainly there are ‘on-road’ and ‘off-road’. For on road bike I ride the so-called “hybrid” bike. With flat bar and road tire but no suspension. Mine is the Kona Dew Deluxe. This mainly for on road cycling on smooth surface. For off-road I ride the full suspension mountain bike as in the picture above, the Specialized Stumpjumper FSR.
For on road, I ride mostly during week end in the morning. Jakarta city have this Car Free Day on Sunday where as its name implied the city close its main road for car and other vehicle. Usually me and several friends we ride to the city center and find a good place for breakfast. Mainly just for good fun and a bit of a lough. For exercising, my friend and I from our racing club we usually do 2 or 3 laps at Sentul track early in the morning before riding the race bike. It is good exercise, and you get to know Sentul tarmac close and personal. I’ve counted before that by doing 3 laps using bicycle you burn about 350 calories. Not bad!
As for off road, check out my ride, the full suspension Specialized Stumpjumper FSR bellow..
It got both front (forks) and rear (shock) suspension. With setting resembles its motorized big brother. It got compression and rebound as well as travel adjustment for the forks. As for the rear it has control for bike bobing while riding. All can be lock when in need. For off road there are plenty of track in South Jakarta and more in the surrounding area. Check out picture bellow doing XC at my alma mater the University of Indonesia Depok campus.
More picture of the of-road bike bellow, with some HDR effect..
Hope you enjoy the pics and the story above.. Happy biking! 🙂

waw, nice bicycle, great photograph. can bycycle “burn out” your “air bag” faster?
Yes for sure! Need to burn those fat badly! 🙂
waks, double impact eh, comment. plis, delete one pieces do you like it. thx and sorry. 😀
Deleted already… No Prob.. 🙂
I had a great bike a while ago. Built it from scratch. Upgrade parts bit by bit. If I remembered correctly, most parts are already Shimano XT. Had a 9 speed Shimano XT rear gear ready for upgrade at home.
But I lost track of that bike when my empty house was torn down for renovation. It’s probably in one of my folks’ empty house, but dont know which one & dont have the time to look for it. I must find time to seriously search for it.
Then come joint us for XC.. I guarantee you its burn more fat then riding Ducs.. 🙂
oh wow! it turns out you ride bikes as well!
http://www.econobmx.com <– my ride is somewhere in there.
nice pics,.. although HDR effect kinda overdone IMO. the greens and reds are too,.. much. oh well what do i know…
Yup.. as long its two wheels I will enjoy it.. 🙂
I see you in BMX stuff, nice! A bit too old for me though 🙂
That is why they called it HDR (high dynamic range).. Everything is bit too much… hehehehe
