Testing the MotionX-GPS with a ride to Puncak..

Last Monday my self and several Ducatisti friends did a short trip to Puncak, a mountainous area about 90km (55 miles) south of Jakarta. Puncak is very popular destination for weekend trip for people live in Jakarta and its surrounding area. With Puncak’s cool and fresh air Puncak is the only area close enough to get away from a hot and poluted air of Jakarta.
I also would like to test my iPhone based MotionX-GPS during this ride and I use the MotionX-GPS more as a “route recorder” then a “road guide”. So the device will not tell me which way to go, but will record my route info; such as Speed, Elapsed Time, etc during the trip.
A very inspiring Ducati Multistrada

Just find this very special Ducati Multistrada and it is very inspiring…
Get well soon Ochi!
Fellow Ducatisti, Ochi, crash just this morning returning home after sunday morning city ride. Ochi has multiple fracture on his left arm, but apart from that he is a OK.
Just want to stress that Ochi wear full gear when riding his Ducati 1098 Superbike, riding boot, leather riding pants and jacket, full face helmet as well as body protector. If he did not, God knows what might happen to him.
Hoping a speedy recovery and for all ride safe!

Testing iPhone’s based GPS Lap Timer@Sentul…

Just got my self an iPhone 3G. It just being launched in Indonesia and to my surprise when browsing the iPhone App Store I found a Lap Timer application. The iPhone does have build in GPS thus there are many navigation application available for the iPhone. But none is for specific track junkies like me except the Harry’s GPS Laptimer v5.4! Above pics shows the application name and on the right is Sentul Track layout. Bare in mind I do not draw the track layout, the application automatically draw the track layout when I rode with the GPS attached to the bike.
This Saturday I manage to test the application at Sentul track, and as I do not have special hardware to mount the iPhone to the bike I do bit worried that the iPhone may get damaged and God forbid if I crash my iPhone will certainly ruin! But I want to test the app first, and if it going well I will have custom mount and protector to mount and secure the iPhone on the bike. For now let just test the application first and if it provide useful information.
Riding 2 up with the significant other..

One of the main reason for getting the Multistrada is for 2 up riding. Yup, I intend to have frequent ride with the wife at the pillion seat. There just simply something romantic with couple riding a bike, you know with the closeness and such…
To be honest, I bit worried at first. With my relatively small frame (I am 163 cm or 5′4″) Multistrada is already a tall bike. It’s 85cm (33.5″) seat high is no means low to me. Riding just by my self I barely have one of my foot flat on the ground. If I lower both my feet I certainly tip toeing.
Now with that situation in mind let me share with you my first experience riding 2 up with the wife..:)
